DISTINCT MOTIVE (Deep, Dark & Dangerous)
Distinct Motive are a half American, half Canadian production duo creating explorative, visceral bass music for the masses. Formed in 2013, Josh Bates and Phil Shore have quickly made a name for themselves with their dark and minimal production style. Paying homage to the early aesthetic of dubstep while building a sound unique unto themselves, the pair have put their respective hometowns of Detroit and Niagara Falls/Toronto on the map in international bass music circles, advocating for the original, dub-influenced side of dubstep to elated audiences across North America.
After releasing their tracks ‘Rattler’, and ‘God’s Eye’, the pair teamed with American vinyl-only imprint BananaStandSound in 2015 to release their track ‘Krome’. Signed to Truth’s appropriately titled Deep Dark and Dangerous label in 2016, the pair premiered their track ‘40hz’, named after the legendary Toronto-based 40hz Soundsystem, to international acclaim. Garnering support from the likes of Noisia, Distance, N-Type, Bukez Finezt, Enigma Dubz and Squarewave, the track received the ultimate seal of approval when it was played by Mala at the Deep Medi Musik 10th Anniversary party. Their most recent vinyl release on Jack Sparrow’s Navy Cut label brings the tracks ‘Cessna Riddim’ and ‘Iron Lung’ to eagerly awaiting fans and DJs alike, further spreading awareness of their unique sound and energy.
Distinct Motive is quickly proving themselves as a force to be reckoned with, inspiring ecstatic energy and movement on dancefloors using their deep selection of original material and exclusive dubplates. They seek to carry the flag of roots-influenced dubstep and explorative bass music further across North America and beyond in the coming year. Close attention should be paid to this cross-border duo as they continue to rise and make a name for themselves in the bass music world.

Construct is widely regarded as one of the biggest innovators in the Montreal Bass Music scene. As the founder of JLD podcast, and co-founder of Bass Drive Wednesday, his influence and musical stylings have been felt far and wide across North America.
His passion for new forms of electronic bass music have led him to the airwaves of SUB.FMDubstep.FMNasty.FM & as host & resident. All while delivering his signature high energy performance to the stages of Osheaga, Piknic Electronik, Igloofest, Pop Montreal, MEG Fest and many more. Let loose with Construct as he pushes the boundaries of 808 bass wobbles, acid trap, grime, wonky hip hop and what ever feels good.
Voted #2 Best Club DJ in Montreal by readers of CULT MTL (2013).

KADET P (Vinyl Vigilance)
Originally from Venezuela and based in Ottawa, Canada. Kadet P is both Dubstep producer and DJ who's been around the scene since 2013 (after listening rips from DMZ and J:Kenzo tunes) but started making music in 2007. Ranging from the heavy sound design to the folk and Top 40s re-sampling, there's some uniqueness in his sound. Also he is part of the Ottawa's own Ivory Shade Hi-Fi and co-owner of the vinyl exclusive label VINYL VIGILANCE along with Kemist. Basing his roots in Underground Hip-Hop has also made his sound turn into raw heavy dubs.

DISCO-NEKT (Koi Sound)

STRANGE FUTURE (Rude Sound Culture)
Strange Future aka Jordan Michon has been a staple of the Canadian bass music scene for years. Originally from Ottawa, his roots are firmly planted in the Oldschool Jungle sounds of the mid 90s. Over the past decade he's been a regular on the Canadian festival circuit, toured from coast to coast through most major Canadian cities and opened for some of bass music's top acts while living in Calgary, Montreal and Ottawa.
With lots of reggae influence, a profound love of the foundation sounds and a keen ear for modern bass music Jordan's sets are a journey through the spectrum guaranteed to please everyone from dancers to DJs.
